When The Commonwealth Center project was being proposed to the City of Boston by the F.D. Rich Company of Stamford, Connecticut, at the center of this massive complex was a relatively small "jewel", the Paramount Theater. Having been abandoned for many years, it was in dismal decay. rfa was retained by the F.D. Rich Co. to prepare plans for the historic restoration and total rehabilitation of this once grand theater. The goal was to transform the Paramount Theater into a contemporary, multi-purpose, entertainment center, while achieving a precise historic recreation of all interior details and surfaces, as well as the reconstruction of the exterior marquee above the front entrance.
