rfa was hired to perform a needs assessment for the expanding Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences within the Don B. Huntley College of Agriculture at California State Polytechnic Unviersity, Pomona and develop a program for a new veterinary training clinic. The project included evaluating the possible expansion and renovation of the existing facility, but, due to site constraints, the expanded program could not be accommodated, so the decision was made to develop the design of a new standalone clinic on a different site. The clinic incorporates a full-service companion animal hospital and flexible student classroom and support spaces. Typical clinical exam rooms were not included because the College determined that animal exams would be performed in the treatment areas. The layout caters to client observation within the inpatient areas to provide direct student, patient, and client interactions.
