This animal shelter for the Humane Society of Tampa Bay is like no other. Comprised of over 41,000 square feet, the facility spans an entire city block as it winds around existing oak trees that predate all man-made structures. There are three primary entrances: one into the main adoption center, one into administrative offices and a multipurpose meeting room/event center on a second floor, and one into the animal surrender and veterinary medical areas. The latter include a spay/neuter clinic as well as an intake examination and medical assessment clinic. The spinal cord of the pet adoption center is an interactive corridor that takes visitors on an inspiring tour along dog exercise yards, adoptable puppy and dog housing, dog visitation rooms, canine play pools, communal kitten and cat play rooms and housing, multiple adoption counseling rooms, several memorial walls of honor, and a serene memorial pet garden.
