Located on Long Island, this 9,600 SF general practice sits on a narrow site facing a busy highway. The front pillars and the two-story, sky-lit reception area reflect the stature of the entire facility. The central treatment area has an unobstructed view of the ICU/recovery unit through a glass observation wall. Readily visible and easily accessible from the hospital's waiting area is a pet retail boutique called Bloomingtails, located next to the grooming suite. West Hills Animal Hospital received a Merit Award in Veterinary Economics' Hospital Design Competition in 1998. Twenty years after rfa provided renovation design services here, Dr. Alan Coren sought to expand upon his services, and rfa designed the adjacent Gold Coast Center for Veterinary Care, a specialty referral animal hospital that won a Merit Award in 2018.
